    Guest Professors announced for Summer Semester 2012:




    Prof. Dr. A. Murigeppa, Professor of Linguistics, Karnatak University Dharwad and
    Former Vice-Chancellor, Kannada University Hampi,

    will teach as a Guest Professor with courses on "Dravidian Languages" und "South Asian Linguistics" at the Chair of Indology, Würzburg, during Summer Semester 2012 from 4th to 12th May 2012.

    Dr. Shaji Sadasivan Nair, Assistant Professor at the Department of Political Science, University of Hyderabad,

    will teach as a Guest Professor at the Institute for Political Science and Social Research, Würzburg, during Summer Semester 2012 from 20th April until 3rd June 2012.

    In cooperation with Prof. Dr. Ummu Salma Bava he conducts courses on "Außenpolitikanalyse nicht-europäischer Staaten", "Spezielle Problemstellungen grenzüberschreitender Politik" and "Globalisierung in den internationalen Beziehungen".

    Prof. Dr. Ummu Salma Bava, Director of the Europe Area Studies Programme, JNU New Delhi,

    will teach as a Guest Professor at the Institute for Political Science and Social Research, Würzburg, during Summer Semester 2012 from 1st June until 15th July 2012.

    In cooperation with Dr. Shaji Sadasivan Nair she conducts courses on "Außenpolitikanalyse nicht-europäischer Staaten", "Spezielle Problemstellungen grenzüberschreitender Politik" and "Globalisierung in den internationalen Beziehungen".




    Guest Professors announced for Winter Semester 2011/12:




    Prof. Hanumanna Nayak Dorai, Vice Chancellor of KSGH University of Music and Performing Arts, Mysore,

    conducts a course on "Aspects of Indian Music Systems, Instruments and Notation" during a short term guest professorship (28.11. - 20.12.2011) at the Chair of Ethnomusicology, Institute for Musicological Research, Würzburg.



    Prof. Dr. Chaluvaraju, Tribal Studies Department, Kannada University Hampi, Karnataka

    will join the Chair of Indology for a short term professorship with courses on "Folk Performances and oral traditions of South India" during Winter Semester 2012 from 14th - 31st January 2012.




    In addition, a lecture series on specific topics will be arranged at the Würzburg Graduate Schools






    Guest Professors announced for Summer Semester 2011:




    Prof. Dr. Amitabh Kundu, Centre for the Study of Regional Development, JNU New Delhi,

    will teach as a Guest Professor with courses on "Globalisation, Employment and Economic Growth", "Poverty and Human Rights" and "Urbanisation and Regional Inequality" at the Faculty of Economics, Würzburg, during Summer Semester 2011 from 20th May until 20th July 2011.



    Prof. Dr. Valerian Rodrigues, Centre for Political Studies, JNU New Delhi,

    will teach as a Guest Professor at the Chair of Comparative Political Science and Systemic Research, Institute for Political Science and Social Research, Würzburg, with courses on "Indian Democracy" and "Social Movements", during Summer Semester 2011 from 16th June until 31st July 2011.



    Prof. Dr. Janaki Nair, Centre for Historical Studies, JNU New Delhi,

    will join the Chair of Indology for a short term professorship with a course on "Gender, Law and State" during Summer Semester 2011 from 16th May until 30st June 2011.



    Guest Professors announced for Winter Semester 2010/11:




    Prof. Dr. B. A. Viveka Rai, Mangalore University,

    has taken up courses in Kannada Language, Literature and Culture at the Chair of Indology, Würzburg,
    in the current Winter Semester 2010/11. He conducts a workshop "Gender and Beyond - New Perspectives on Gender and Transgender in South Asia" (04.–05.02.2011) together with Heidrun Brückner and M. D. Muthukumaraswamy.



    Dr. M. D. Muthukumaraswamy, Director, National Folklore Support Centre, Chennai,

    conducts a course on "Representations of Indian Folklore: Genres, Methods, Fieldwork and Community Archives" (14.1. – 29.1.2011) during a short term guest professorship at the Chair of Indology.
    An International Workshop on "Gender and Beyond - New Perspectives on Gender and Transgender in South Asia" will be conducted from 04.–05.02.2011 at the Chair of Indology.
